Melabev opens 4 day centers directed by Leah Abramowitz a 1st in Jerusalem for dementia care
Prof. Arnold Rosin initiates the Geriatric Institute (now called the Institute of Aging) in coordination with Shaare Zedek Medical Center to offer the 1st in-service courses in Israel for professionals in eldercare
Melabev offers support groups for family caregivers of dementia patients
ESHEL (JDC) Prize: for outstanding innovative services
1985 – 1989
Melabev translates The 36 Hour Day, classic text for caregivers, into Hebrew
Melabev establishes the 1st and only home care service for Alzheimer's patients and their family caregivers
1990 - 1994
Jerusalem Municipality Prize: for Volunteerism
Melabev opens the first program for Russian speaking dementia patients
Volunteers, Arleen Eidelman and Rachel Sachar, produce the video, "Dance Therapy and Dementia: Activating Alzheimer's Patients"
1995 - 1999
Melabev opens the 1st and only Memory Clubs in Israel for people with mild memory and cognitive decline – separate ones for Hebrew, English and Russian speakers
Melabev staff writes and publishes, with ESHEL, the first editions of their books, Avoda Im Holei Alzheimer's, and Working with Alzheimer's Patients, ed., Rakel Berenbaum
Clore 50th Anniversary Prize: for Helping the Most Vulnerable in our Society
Melabev Occupational Therapist, Yehudit Lange, develops, applies and tests Savion—the 1st and only computer software for dementia patients
"A Memory Club for Elderly Persons Suffering from Moderate Cognitive Deterioration and Memory Problems," a study by Perla Werner, PhD., concludes that activities of the Melabev Memory Clubs forestall decline in dementia patients.
2000 - 2004
Jerusalem Prize: for Good Citizenship
Melabev develops Snoezelaan (multi-sensory room) for the elderly demented
Leonore and Larry Zusman - JDC-Israel Award: Excellence in the Field of Human Services
Friends of Melabev initiate their Annual Virtual Dinners. Norton & Rachel Wasserman and Fran & Bernie Alpert, lead the 1st Annual "Don't Forget Us" Walkathon.
Melabev introduces palliative activities for dementia patients in their own home - the 1st and only Home Hospice for Alzheimer's patients in Israel - with support from UJA-Federation of New York

Melabev opens a day center in Beit Shemesh – the 1st Melabev center outside Jerusalem – with support of Partnership 2000 of the Jewish Agency and the Arison Foundation
Israel Gerontological Society Award: for Activities on Behalf of the Elderly
Glickman Prize, of ESHEL: for Home Hospice Care
Geriatric Institute inaugurates the Geriatric Study Tour in English for local and overseas professionals in eldercare
Amal Award: for Melabev Volunteers
Leah Abramowitz, Melabev founder, is named "Yakir Yerushalayim" ["Worthy of Jerusalem"], the capital's highest civic honor
