Harvey Chesterman, Nancy Brown, Bonnie Segal and their amazing, enthusiastic and active committee announce the 6th Annual "Don't Forget Us" Walkathon - Walking for Alzheimer's Care.

They are leading us up North this year.  We will head out of Jerusalem in the late afternoon of Tuesday, December 1st (14th of Kislev) and travel to the Mediterranean, descending from the buses at Hof Dor for a moonlight walk along the coast.  Each year the evening walks by the light of the full moon become more mystical and magical, and this year promises to exceed them all.

Those hardy souls continuing on for the following two-day hike will travel up to the kibbutz guest house where they will be lodged both nights of the Walkathon.  During the day they will be hiking through the Western Galilee.

Each participant can choose one of three tracks for:  1) good walkers;  2)  hikers or 3)  trekkers.

The fee is only nis 1000 - for those who register before October 31st.  This does not at all cover the costs to Melabev for the bus transportation, lodgings and meals, guides, medics and security staff for the whole 2 1/2 experience - which last year came to nis 2,200 per person.  Therefore any registrants able to cover the full cost to Melabev of their participation in the Walkathon are encouraged to do so.  This will enable the full sums raised in sponsorships to go directly towards the care of the older adults at Melabev day centers and the support services for their families.

Every Walkathon participant is expected to raise sponsorships.  For an individual, the commitment is $1,200 and for a couple, $1,800.

Moonlight Walk:  The fee for the Moonlight Walk is only nis 100, which covers the bus transportation from Jerusalem and back the same evening, the guides and medics and security and a complete bar-b-cue supper.  Each participant is expected to also raise nis 400 in sponsorship funds.
